violent steering shudder and shake - please respond   Message List

Could all those who have experienced the violent shudder and shake of
the steering wheel please respond about what dealers did about it? I
have saved some messages where it said that the dealer replaced the
steering rack. Did this fix it? Did the dealer do this without
recreating the problem? My dealer is saying that they have to recreate
it first, which is unlikely since it happens only a few times a week
(although it is getting worse). I'd like to get other people's
experience so I have some ammunition if I have to go over the dealer's
head. The car is in the shop today. Thanks.

For the benefit of others, this only occurs when starting from a stop.
And not always by any means.
