Thanks ! And also from myself and cousin George.
Starting to shovel the TriBSA desert racer bits into ever more coherent piles
here, which is good.
I'm aiming to get over to France next year and visit a few old haunts, which
should be a laugh and three-quarters.
   Cheers,

You're welcome to advertise BSA's and associated stuff.

There is a For Sale area under Applications on the left hand side Web menu.

I've got a B25 Starfire that will be finsihed shortly as my first partial
restoration.

Today while doing some errands on the day off, I ran across a small bike shop
that's local to me so I stopped by to see what they deal with.

They had the usual Japanese offerings so I tlaked to this young bloke to see
what they might have about. When asked if they had anything British, he
mentioned there was a rolling chassis and there was also an engine in the
office.

After having a look at both, I asked if they might be for sale and how much. He
tells me.....$75. I checked to make sure I heard right and it was $75 for the
lot.

It was a B44VS. Has seen better days, and unless the price goes up, it's mine
for $75. It can keep the B25 Starfire company in the shed.

Now that's a good day.

Merry Chrimbo all.

Sounds like a monstrous hoot.
The Mad Plumber managed to get his D.7/D.1 hybrid into a two-wheeled slither
at about 40 degrees of lean when out green lane riding near North Weald on
Saturday, but, as he said " Once I'd gone up the grass verge, it stopped
sliding, so I just carried on home.... "
There are things that can be done with Bantams that nothing else can do, at
least not with the same moth-eaten panache.
Happy Christmas to you all !

Yes,
That was an interesting ride home. Ice, snow and slush for 8 miles, sheet ice
for 1/4 mile after which the road was reasonable. Even got up to 4th gear.

Strangely the ride didn't take much longer than usual.

Only slipped and locked the front brake once, both at low speed.

Looking forward to a white Christmas (while I'm at home and not riding)!

That's the way to go.
For the price of a ratty fork nut and the various bits and bobs, the job is
done to perfection.
I'll hopefully be building the TriBSA forks up over Christmas, so that method
will be employed.
Even got some handy sparks out of the magneto today......

You will have to make your own tool. I did that by machining off the hex head of
an old fork cap, drilled and tapped for a 3/8" bolt and a piece of 3/8" thick
plate is drilled to clear the bolt.

The bolt has a nut threaded all the way on to the head and is passed through the
plate and into the machined fork cap. The fork cap is screwed into the fork tube
and the 3/8" is tightened against the plate and this pulls the tube up into the
top triple clamp.

Traditional method was to use a broom handle, screwed into the
stantion and pull it up into the yoke.
Never liked this method (although it does work), apart from time it
takes to find a broom handle the right size I was always was mindfull of
bits wood floating about in the fork.

All the best - Bill

Surrey Cycles and Martyn Bratby are the specialists but most of the

If BSA can make a casting big enough to run from 71 mm to 84 mm for the B31 and
another 85 mm plus not much for the B33. Why not do the same for the A50 and
A65?

The number of fins on a 650 is the same as on a 500. The difference is the bore,
not the stroke.

Also, the Firebird Scrambler is jetted slightly richer, but the pistons and
camshaft are the same for all models.

changing the intake manifold(s). A Lightning and a Thunderbolt use completely
different cylinder head castings. Also if your A65 does not have a tachometer
and you would like to add one, all of the oil pumps have the piece to drive one,
as you will discover by removing the right side cover. It is just a question of
removing the blanking cover and installing the appropriate parts. An illustrated
parts book is very helpful here. I highly recommend Britsh bike CD's by Kim the
