hi,

i've got a 6 cylinder engine that is setup from the factory as bath injection
(only 3 injector drivers). when i originally read that the emu could convert
from batch to sequential, i thought it would use 3 emu drivers for the other
cylinders, but it seems that it only drives those injectors at 360 degrees from
the corresponding cylinder. i would've thought that it should be at 180 degrees
from the corresponding cylinder, but that option isn't available.

is there any way to set it up so that i have 6 separate drivers for the
injectors?

thanks

If you already have the Greddy base Calibration for your car, just use that, add the Z32 Air flow meter as a substitute, Change the injector size, and autotune the low end.  Then drive it to whoever's gonna tune it, just don't give it any boost.

On the topic of learning how to do things yourself, while I in general agree that one should be able to help himself most of the time, I also believe in a number of things:

1.) if it's not too important or integral to your life, let someone else do it, a professional ideally, pay for it and live with it.
2.) If you've got more important things to do in your life, do those first.
3.) If you don't trust yourself to do something right / properly / efficiently / safely, let someone else do it rather than messing it up.

I love cars, I own a shop myself, working on my Supra, customer Evos, Silvias, STI's, 350Z's and the odd Skylines and GTR's. But I'm not a mechanic and I have more important things to do with my time than learn how to be a mechanic (I have partners for that). Hence do it right and get a pro especially with cars because safety and cost are paramount. I applaud people who can do everything themselves. I know I can't and that doesn't bother me one bit.

Also, there will be people here who don't have immediate access to assistance, know-how etc. Which is why they ask for help here in this e-group. That's the most efficient way to do it. So what's wrong with that?

I'd like to apologize if this post is long-winded and boring. But it pisses me off when people are too arrogant, elitist, snobbish and just plain rude to other people who are seeking help.

This was the type of help i was looking for george, we should all not assume and just give guidance. If I knew how to use the auto tune feature and that it would be enough to manage the car from TN to GA, I wouldnt have posted. I learned something new and usefull although UAE Z33 sent me a base map. The It works fine and is a little on the lean side, but will be enough to have my tuner tweak it out. I will create another topic here soon to keep everyone posted on the next tune and give some figures on it along with the layout of my tune. Thanks all.

First I would like to apologize to the group for reacting to personal attacks in an unprofessional manner.  The OP was obviously looking for something to start with and I assumed he was looking for a tuned file.  I appreciate Sultan's remarks on my behalf.  Thank you Sultan my very good friend, someday I hope to return to Dubai and tell you in person, Inshallah.

In answer to Mr Wilburn's question on utilizing the Autotune feature, I have never used it but from what I can tell it works very much like an O2 feedback one would find on a standalone such as AEM EMS, with the ability to write directly to a selected Map using O2 feedback.  The directions on page 16 of the instructions show the A/F Feedback Map Parameters page of the software.  By selecting any one of the active maps in the first window, the user can set the map to which the adjustments are made.

The next window is used to enter the coolant temperatures between which the software will operate.  Be sure to set these temperatures to the car's normal operating temps, above any warm-up enrichment and below any adjustments the ecu will make due to an overtemp condition.

Set the throttle position that you would like the feedback to operate above in the Throttle position window.  You can start at 0% if you would like to get the whole map adjusted, or 90% or more if you just want to do top end.  This is useful if you are doing multiple runs and don't want the part-throttle messed with if you already have it dialed in.

In the next window, enter the time in seconds your O2 sensor takes to warm up and give accurate readings, hopefully you are using a wide-band gauge where you can see the readout after it warms up, at my work we use Motec Lambda sensors which typically take at least a minute to warm up.  I would put in at least 100 seconds to be sure you are getting an accurate signal, otherwise the computer would lean out your engine by mistake.

In the Feedback cycle window, enter the speed at which you would like the software to update your map.  A good setting for this is 150- 200 milliseconds, the faster you go the more chance it will overcorrect.  The next window is the feedback amount, you should start low on this like 1-2% otherwise the computer may overshoot.

You are now ready to Autotune.  Go to the Map select window on the Parameter Setting and turn on the A/F Target Map.  Then go to the Map Tree and double-click on the A/F Target Map to open it.  Enter the values you would like the software to achieve at any given condition.

I know I might be new on this board but felt compelled to get in on this discussion.  First I will say that yes I posted asking if anyone had a basemap for my car but not to be lazy but simply because it is very hard to understand how to do this and if we had basemaps it would better help us in understanding how to tune and set up this unit.  I personally have had this unit for about 3 months and have still not figured it out but I will say that I joined this group in hopes of getting some guidance and understanding so if somebody has free time could you please help me?  I have been trying to figure out the autotune feature but cannot get it to work.  Do any of you have knowledge on this subject?

Let's see, 12 hours go by, and here's the total of this group's activity- More drivel from you, and yet another member far too lazy to learn how to tune asking for someone else to carry their weight.  Still no informative discussion from anyone wanting to lift a finger to a keyboard other than to bitch or ask for a handout.  No one is learning or sharing anything.  That's what makes this group so valuable.  Don't know or care where the gathering is, but if you'd like to meet somewhere else that'd be ok with me.

Hello

Does anyone know how to tune the Emanage ultimate, with step by step procedures because I really do not know where to start on this Emanage because there are so many parameters.

Thanks Bob,

Since limits can be set for throttle position and rpm in the software, it's somewhat possible for your friend to isolate the area in which he would like to auto tune.  He could simply set the limits for say, 13% throttle and 0 psi, and just roll into the throttle until the engine reaches 6 psi, then reduce throttle under 13% for the remaining part of his run on the street, or simply stop the run if he were on a dyno.  Since the high limit on the feedback is 5%, unless his fuel map was already pretty close, he would want to perform multiple runs to accomplish the desired result.  He should also set the Feedback Cycle time higher than 200msec, to allow for any dtps or acceleration enrichment to conclude before the O2 feedback kicks in.

The reason he's trying to adjust the incoming hertz is probably because the Emanage can alter the signal, which is pretty common.  In quite a few instances I've had to build an Airflow Output Map to get cars running halfway decent before I could tune using fuel and ignition maps, especially at low airflow points.

Now THAT is what I am talking about! *cheers*
I was pretty sure that an autotune to get the basemap would work well. My buddy is having issues in his beast for trying to tune at 25+psi where you go from 0 to 6 psi and hit a rich spot. He has had to start adjusting the incoming hertz instead of trying to pull fuel. Is this the best way to accomplish this?

Furthermore, since you don't seem to have a real job and have all the time in the world, I'd like to see you pull up all the "multiple times in a row" that I'm not "at least a helpful member of this group" that you can find. I think our members will find this claim completely baseless. You and the would-be freeloaders of this group should learn that you get back what you put into it. By the way, did you know that the guy that is giving away a free tuned map for this car recieved a free one from me over two years ago to get his 350z running? I didn't recieve a damn thing from that, and we're still friends. So put that in your piupe and smoke it.

He has shown multiple times in a row that he is not a helpful member of this group, or at the very least an undesirable attitude for a member here. I would like to think a person could ask a simple question and not get berated like we are some elitist crowd. We are not elitist, just the best.

In order to get my car to the tuner in ATL it would be easier if I had the original Map for greddy since I'm using the emanage from a boosted 350z. Thanks for your useless input though.

All that's left is getting the final settings to really fine tune the car, get the power band broader and engine response better.
